Diocese of North America and Europe
The Mar Thoma Church has been dynamically involved in the socio-cultural settings of North America and Europe for over three decades. Fundamentally an immigrant Church, she has contextualized her ministry in her new life situation without compromising the rich ethos and tradition received from her motherland of Kerala, India. The diocese of North America and Europe, one of the twelve dioceses of the of the Mar Thoma Church, comprises of the 87 Mar Thoma parishes and congregations in the USA, Canada and Europe.
Though there were Mar Thoma members and worship services in the area from the seventies, the parishes were coordinated as a Zone in 1980 and the diocese was established on Jan1, 1988.
The Diocese is presided by the Diocesan Bishop Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos and is governed by the Diocesan Assembly constituted by the representatives from the parishes.
Rev. Denny Philip serves as the Diocesan Secretary and Mr. Philip Thomas serves as the Diocesan Treasurer. The diocesan council functions as the executive committee of the diocese.
Currently there are 74 parishes and 13 congregations in the Diocese with 75 clergy, including the retired, 8991 families and 32550 members.
